The noise around him was intense as they all were shoved into the dining hall after registering with the school in the old book. It had taken a lot of his willpower not to shrink back from the scarred man in leather, not because of those scars, but because there was no doubt in his mind that this one was powerful, more powerful than many of these people suspected. His natural instinct was to get out of here, to leave, get on one of those horrible human transport devices and get out. But he could not. Ahren would find him, and would be angry. He didn't want to see Ahren angry, because when he was pleasant it was bad enough. For some reason the man had wanted him here to 'keep him safe'. He had been doing just fine until then, but being under this one's strange form of protection was stifling. The only good thing about it was the fact that the buildings around here were made mostly by natural materials like stone and wood.

All around him students bustled and chatted. One of the more chatty ones had spotted him and had tried to rouse him into conversation, but already feeling overwhelmed, he had said little, and she had become distracted by others and had soon moved off, not getting the enthused response she hoped for in others. Didn't they know how much danger they were in just standing here under the gaze of that man? He flickered his own gaze to the scarred man once more, standing there beside a table. They were all chatting and laughing, not understanding that this one could likely kill them before they even knew what was going on. He wanted to pull his protections around him closer, but he didn't dare. He needed to remain more in control, a light touch, people noticing him, but forgetting him just as easily. You got caught if you tried to disappear utterly then got distracted and someone noticed something amiss. Glancing to the bowls of fruit, he looked back to the man who had said his piece, which was short, and left. He felt almost weak with relief. A lot of the students didn't understand the test. Just a treat perhaps, a bit of fun. He knew better. It was a test of character.

He waited near the periphery of the group, watching them pick and choose amongst the fruit, some going for the cherries, others going for the soft succulent peaches, and others choosing the larger fruit that was more difficult to get into, perhaps wanting the challenge, or perhaps just wanting orange. Others still chose more than one, a selection, or greed. When there was space around the table, he would move in, knowing this was just as much a part of the registration as the signing of his name had been. He moved in, looking over the now depleted bowls and would carefully pick a cherry from amongst what was left, one of the black cherries rather than the bright ones that could be tart on the tongue. The black cherries reminded him more of tastes of home and he took his solitary fruit and moved back away from the table. He didn't want to eat it. He couldn't feel any spells on the fruit, but sharing food in a place he neither trusted or particularly liked set his nerves on edge. He held onto the tiny fruit, moving to seat himself at one of the huge tables in the place. Food was already set out, much to the delight of students who were all as ravenous as he was, but the scent of the meat made his stomach churn.

As the students ate, the new students made friends, one by one they were taken, asked to step out by what could only be teachers and led out, a few minutes later the teacher would return and pick out another student, leading them out as well. There were a few teachers at the teacher's table at the front of the Dining Hall, facing out so they could watch the students. The empty seats obviously for the teachers that were filtering out the new students. If one looked up at the teachers table there were one or two teachers that seemed to stand out, particularly the three female teachers that sat together, some of the new students were staring curiously at them, under the strict impression that this was an all-boys school. But then again, perhaps they weren't really female anyways.

It was the scarred man that approached Ash, his gaze was something fierce, the blue eyes like chips of sapphire ice as he looked at Ash straight, without that forgetful look that most usually had, "Come with me." He said quickly, strictly and marching the other out, "You selected a single, solitary cherry." He said, looking at the other, arching a brow slightly, "You are a clever illusionist, though that won't work on the teachers here." He looked at the clipboard he carried that hadn't seemed to be there before, "Ash." He pulled a pouch off his hip, "Pull a tile." He said and as the other did so he watched, "What does it say?"

Ash has acquired a green, pentagon shaped tile with the number 117 on both the front and back of the tile, a rune inscribed on the bottom of the tile, shaped like a backwards F with the prongs of the letter pointed downwards.

"You are in the Earth dorms, at the South East end of the campus, in the Ansuz Wing. Hold onto that," He pointed to the tile, "Your roommate will have the same tile. Also, it's the key to your rooms." He said, "Your schedule will be given tomorrow by the Earth Prefect. The Wing Heads will help you to your rooms when you go to the dorms. For now, follow the hall to the open door on the right, you'll find a room of other plenty new students, and welcome to Northwood." He said it like he'd said it a hundred times, "I'm Professor Bhas, teacher of Alchemy and Chemistry." He said, and he looked like the sort of fellow who rather enjoyed making things go 'Boom' as he left the other to his devices while he went to retrieve another student.

Upon coming to the door, Ash would see a gathering of new students looking around a wide room populated with a variety interesting things. Stones decorated the walls, geodes and quartz and gems, unprotected, but the radiation of magic would be almost audible on each item and at the head of the room stands a wild, dark-haired professor with distant blue/green eyes. A thin goatee colors his chin with black hair, his hands are clasped behind his back, he is almost imposing, broad shoulders atop a corded muscle frame, obvious beneath his old-style clothing, a leather jerkin over a green tunic and a pair of brown pants tucked into thick leather boots, he glances over as the other enters, but the faraway look returns quickly.

He would sit quietly, the chatter and noise going on around him yet seemed not to touch him. He didn't eat anything, but no one really noticed, and if they did, it didn't stay in their mind's long. He listened to this conversation or that, trying to see what sort of people he had put himself in with, not that it mattered much as long as they left him well alone. The sheer amount of people though was overpowering, reminding him of the town centre, but without the mass of metal, though all the cutlery around here was setting his nerves on edge slightly, but it was nothing compared to what he had grown used to having to live in a human town. This place was a breath of fresh air for the most part.

He had noticed the teachers of course at the head table, though the fact that there were women there did not find him surprised. It was an all boys university, but that didn't really apply to teachers. It was up to them whether they taught here or not. Talking of teachers, he had been watching the teachers come and go, though as the scarred man came up to him, directly to him, it took a lot of willpower not to flinch back away from that piercing gaze and the overpowering. He didn't like it when people saw through all his protections this easilly, though he had kept the charms as light as he dared in terms of forgetfulness and attentiveness so that if the teachers sought him out they could find him, not knowing how resistant they would be to it. By the tone of the other's voice he was almost certain that he was going to be reprimanded for something, possibly his heavy use of charms, and he would get up, following quietly from the dining room, away from the scent of cooked dead animals.

The door closed behind him, and the hush of the corridor was a shock after the swell of voices from within. At the comment about the cherry, he wasn't sure whether he was meant to justify his choice, or if it was a rhetorical comment. He stayed silent and was instead complimented on his skills "Thank you" he would murmur, his voice, for those immune to his spells and charms was light and musical in its tones, one that might be good at singing, or theater. For now, although musical, it was filled with an overtone of caution and worry. This whole place was new to him, and he didn't know what it was about, about what the rules were, the normal social interactions, and most importantly, what was safe.

As the bag of tiles was offered to him, he really didn't want to put his hand in there. He didn't know what they were made of, but he could feel the small spells gathered in that bag. It was as dangerous as putting a hand into a bag of vipers potentially. He wished he had worn gloves. Still, from the look in the scarred man's eyes, he was not going to take insubordination lightly, and so he would grit his teeth and take a tile out, which, thankfully didn't bite him. He looked at the tile in his hand "117" he said, turning it over and frowning. "And a horizontally flipped rune of Ansuz, warning me, or others of trickery and pranks." He wasn't sure what to think of the rune. Was it a warning to him about others, a warning to him not to play them on others, or a warning to others about him? He wasn't sure he liked having that on his door 'key', almost like a racial fingerpointing that went 'the person in this room is a trickster'. However whatever his thoughts, they were discarded momentarilly when he heard those words about sharing rooms. "I can't share a room" he said simply. How would he get any sleep if there was someone else in the room? He would not be able to sleep at all for fear of what they might do! His comment though was all but ignored, and he was left looking at the dissapearing back of Professsor Bhas 'teacher of alchemy and chemistry'.

For the first time since he had got here, he was beginning to see the scale of what giving into Ahren had got him into. He had no desire to learn those things! As he moved to the room indicated, he would slip in, unnoticed by all but the professor there, who also got distracted soon after and returned his attention to other students. He looked around the place, keeping to the periphery of the group, and staying well away from those rocks. He didn't want to automatically convert one of them to his own use by mistake. Stones liked him, but wood liked him more. He liked this room better than the dining hall, perhaps because of the raw power of the stones, though if those stones already had spells attached to them, his reaction would be far more cautionary and nervous.

The scarred man gave a wan smile, the kind that just touched the corners of his mouth, as the other made a comment about the rune, "Perhaps, the keys have a mind of their own sometimes." Though he gave the other a completely unimpressed look as the other said he could not share a room with another person, one eyebrow arching in an 'oh really' look. He waved the other off, turning away, returning to the Hall.

In the room with the stones as the students slowly started to gather further and further, the teacher at the front finally addressed the students, "Welcome to Northwood." He said, though upon looking around, only about a fourth of the actual students. "You are all in Earth dorms, and I am the Master of the Earth dorms, Vii. As you can see, this is my classroom I am the crystallography teacher, I teach about crystals, and how they can attune to and amplify magical power." He said gesturing to the crystals around him, "Find your roommates at this time, if you don't have one, come to me, if you please." His eyes had grown sharper, now more green than blue as he swept the students.

They quickly paired up, chatting quietly and starting to get to know their roommates, though Ash would find himself lacking in a companion as well as one or two others. Vii beckoned them up, "You two can pair up," He said to the first two, taking one of their tiles and placing it on the desk before he turned to Ash, his eyes fading in color for a moment before blue rushed to the surface and he looked at the other, "Your roommate must be late, for now, you can room alone." He said, taking note of the other's room number and wing, a long list of other students, their numbers and wings above his. He gathered the students, leading them back towards the Dining Hall where they could finish eating.

Once the students had finished eating and a brief welcome speech was administered by the Assistant Principal, apparently the regular Principal wasn't present at that time, the various Masters of the Houses, went to stand beside the four large flags of Earth, Wind, Water, and Fire. Most of the new students were hesitant, but as the older students started towards their respective houses, the newer students understood and moved to follow.

Ash is led with Earth House from the manor off to the south before banking east towards a two story building in the distance, not too far, but it was a good stretch from the sitting of earlier. The House is comfortably earthy, coming in through the doors is a large lounging area, complete with a warm fireplace, some study tables, and some dark nooks to simply curl up and hang out in. Couches and chairs and sofas litter the carpeted room en masse and the colors are all in greens and browns and small touches of orange. On either side of the commons is two doors, one with the right ways Ansuz rune on it, and the other with the Raido rune printed on it. The Master points to the doors and speaks, "Your dorms are through there, the commons are here, you can do homework, and whatnot here. Feel free to linger here if you like, or go to your rooms, your things are already there." He turns then and pulls out a tile, "To open the doors, place your tile against the door and it will allow you inside and the tile will become a key." He says and takes his leave of the students.

Ash is left with two options: One, he can stay in the commons, potentially meeting new people, perhaps socializing a little with the other students. Or Two: He can go into the Ansuz wing to find his room, settle his things and get comfortable.

He would watch the room fill with more and more students. Some of them were clearly human, while others were not. He was surprised at how little people hid their heritage, almost sometimes daring others to notice. He had no such issues and was more than content to remain unobtrusive at the edges of the group.

When the teacher finally spoke, he would glance once more to the crystals. Well, perhaps this was a class he wouldn't mind doing. However when the command to find the roommates was said, he would wait at the edges, not wanting to go around asking each person what their number was. He would wait until there were almost no unmatched ones left and only then would he move up and check his token with theirs. It didn't match and relief flooded him. Perhaps he had a room to himself after all. If he could just make it stay that way, it would be great. If he had time with the room, he could proably make people forget it was there. Hope sparked in him, though he would shift uncomfortably under that bright gaze from the lecturer.

Filtering out with the rest of the group, he would move back to the dining hall with them. The scent of the food was overwhelming to his senses, especially the meat. It was no wonder that he would happilly leave the place to head to the earth dorm with the rest of the earth group, hoping his stomach would settle, and that others had not brought such vile things back to the common room with them.

He was here, he was finally here! Excitement radiated from him and he would chatter to anyone that was willing to listen, nervous as well as anticipatory. He had never been away from home before, having always lived with his parents, and now he was on this great adventure in such a wonderful place. He found himself just as awe inspired and excited as he had been the first time, except there was that feeling of possibility in the air. He gripped the letter in his hand, trying not to crush it, but almost scared it would blow away, taking his chance of staying here with it.

"I can't believe I am actually here. I never thought I would get in!" he said to a kid nearby "I'm Kevin by the way. Is this your first year to? I wonder what the subjects will be like, I never checked. They said we would get to choose between some of them. I hope I don't have to do science.. I'm rubbish at science."

Then they were inside, and their bags, all named, left in the foyer where they had been told to put them before signing in the book there with the rather imposing man with all the scars looking over them. How could one man get so many scars? He tried not to stare and would move quickly through to the dining hall where the three bowls of fruit were waiting. What was this? Some sort of fruit requirement before dinner? He didn't know. He had never been to a boarding school before. All new to him. He would pick a peach from the bowl and munch on it while the other students chose theirs as well. It was sweet and juicy and rather delicious. He was almost surprised because all the ones he had ever found in the shops were always a bit bitter in places. He wasn't complaining. "This place is just amazing" he said between munching to someone beside him who was peeling one of the oranges "the architecture is just great. Its like something out of old England or something, like in the movies" he said, unable to keep his enthusiasm to himself.

Soon though he was moved off and they took seats at what could only be called a banquet. Food was everywhere, and he didn't even need to worry about paying for it either as it came as part of his course fees, which were paid for. He finished off the last of the peach, putting down the stone to the side of his plate before tucking into some freshly cooked chicken. It was wonderful. "Can you believe this.. its like one of those medieval banquets. Iv never seen so much food in my life!" he said to the boy across from him who just gave him a rather condescending withering look and turned aside to talk to someone else. He deflated a bit and munched on his chicken.

<<Darcy>>

The boy who introduced himself excitedly to everyone around him as Kevin, had an infectious excitement that drew Darcy from under his master's chair to the boy across the table. He could feel Lux's disdain for the human, his enthusiasm, and his imperfections. Darcy found him intriguing.

Here was a human who found the world every bit as fascinating as Darcy did, someone with a curiosity to rival his own. He watched the boy avidly, drinking in his expressions, his delight in everything.

'If only,' sighed the shadow. He, too, wanted to partake of these things, to experience food and drink, to talk with another being, laugh and jest and play. Sorrows, too, had much to interest him. Where did the emotions come from? How did those feelings manipulate thoughts and actions?

He'd learned a lot about this life that Lux shunned, but Darcy had so much more to learn.

'I want!' he thought, shocked at his own audacity. He wanted something for himself, only for himself, to hold and feel and ... and be.

A sob, the first he'd ever experienced, caught in his throat and he retreated, amazement pushing the fledgling feeling aside. Pooled in a puddle of shadow beneath the table, Darcy stared at the boots lining the chamber benches. He could discern where his shadow lead directly to his master, and the darkest of despair welled up within him. He would never be free. Never. If he'd had a voice, he would have screamed.

<<Lux>>

The thin, pale-faced elven man stood up abruptly, narrowing his eyes in a fierce scowl at Kevin. Anger filled the light-blue eyes, turning them to ice. He clenched his hands into fists, overcome, for a brief moment, of the desire to smite the pitiful weakling.

He slammed his fist upon the table to keep from lashing out, stating with a coldness to match his eyes, "Cross me again, boy, and any progeny you might ever have the wits to spawn will curse you to their last breaths!"

Then he turned and swept from the chamber, his shadow flickering for a brief instant, long and gray-black in the light of the torches.

After the earlier condecending look the other had given him, he had not attempted conversation with him again. He might be filled with enthusiasm, but he wasn't stupid. He had settled down to eat his chicken and survey the other foods, trying to ignore the harsh comment. He was new to this place, and the other man looked older. He had probably been here a while and was used to it all, perhaps came from a rich family. Probably did in fact. It was logical he would look down on him for such a childish show.

However he could not have anticipated the harsh response coming his way, and only the movement across the table alerted him, and if that didn't then the slamming of the hand on the table certainly did. He didn't like violence, and suddenly out of nowhere the feeling of the threat of it was hanging there in the air. Confusion filled his eyes "Huh? I didn't say anything.." he said, but the man was already stalking off, leaving a chill in the air almost, a hush that gathered at the tables in the wake of his anger. Kevin just looked confused, hurt, and in that moment, slightly vulnrable without his cheery excitable behaviour. He just didn't know what the man had thought he had done. It wasn't like he had even been talking to someone else afterwards that might be construed as gossiping about him.

He wilted a bit more, much like Darcy, but as the area of the room slowly came back to normal, he would turn to one of the others. "What was that all about? I didn't do anything to cross him" he said, voicing the confusion that had been clearly etched into his face.

"Pay him no mind." An older student with a sweep of dark hair and calm eyes, "He's an asshole on purpose." He looked at the other, "Toma." He offered, giving the other his hand. He had a couple of books in his arms and a pair of rectangular glasses resting on his nose, "Water dorm, sixth year." He said, pushing up his glasses. "Had to share a room with him once. That's how I broke my nose." He touched the bump in his nose, then flashed the other a faint grin. "So what are you?" He asked, a bright blue bird fluttering to his shoulder and folding its wings, "I'm a future Wizard of the High Order, but for now, I'm just a soul mage." He was good natured it seemed, and friendly and the big blue bird on his shoulder seemed distracted and kept looking away towards the windows or the head table as the students began growing louder, and Toma kept conversation with the other a bit longer. "This here is Daerius, he's my soul beast." He said, "You must be a newbie, welcome to your home for the next few years, it's funny, it seems that once you come here, you never seem to quite leave." He looked up, having been called, "Coming!" He returned, "Maybe I'll see you around the dorm sometime?" He asked and went off to greet the friend that had called him.

He would turn his head towards the voice and find himself looking at an older man beside him with the most amazing looking blue bird on his shoulder. Were they allowed pets? Must be, though he had never seen one of those birds before. Had he coloured its feathers, or perhaps it was an exotic bird. Wasn't it illegal to have those in this county?

When he was offered the other's hand he would take it "Kevin Bishop. Im not sure what dorm I am in yet. We all just signed in about 20 minutes ago." When he mentioned about the broken nose, his brows shot up. "He broke your nose?! Thats auful! Im surprised they let him stay on here if he did something that violent!" But.. wizard of the high order? Was that some computer game? "Oh.. I'v never played the dungeons and dragons sort of games.. or is it a university club or something?" he was confused, but either was a logical suggestion. "Iv heard of 'wizards of the coast', but they are a game developer arnt they? Not heard of Wizards of the High Order." he smiled, game for whatever interesting topic this was turning out to be. He looked back to the bird again when it was mentioned, oh.. soul beast? It must be some sort of role playing game or something.

"Oh, yes, Im new" he said "The school is wonderful isn't it? I loved it the first time I walked through the doors! I couldn't believe I was given a place here, its pretty amazing! I never thought I would get into a university" he said with a bright grin, his earlier cheerfulness having returned.

He was dissapointed when the other boys called Toma away, "If I get into water dorm, sure!" he said, privately hoping he would. Tomu was the first person to be that friendly with him in an interactive manner, unlike many of the other new starts who were just as baffled as he was about what was going on. He waved to him as he headed off to his friends before settling back down to eat.

One of the pretty female teachers approached him, thick red hair fell around her face and she smiled, "Would you like to come with me for a moment?" She asked and led him out into the Hall, "I'm Professor Dacon, I teach Zoology." She had scars over her exposed arms and at her throat that was exposed by the loose shirt she wore, "Welcome to the University, take a tile from here," She offered a satchel, "Then I can tell you where to go." She said, she had the sort of no-nonsense attitude that worked well when dealing with animals, and students as well, as the other pulled a tile, she gave a slight grin.

Kevin has acquired a blue colored tile, octagonal in shape, the rune for Pertho marked on it and the number 126 marked on it in black.

"All right, you're going to head that way, into that room there, keep a tight hold on your tile, okay? Everything will make sense soon." She turned and left him to his own business.

As the other went down the hall, excited chatter could be heard coming from the room that Professor Dacon had pointed out, students, it seemed, gathered in the room. Within was an alert, sharp-eyed teacher, his hair was a brilliant blue and his skin was pale, and almost translucent blue as he moved students around already telling them to find their roommates as more new students started to file in.

He would look up as the woman came towards him. Was he in trouble? He didn't know, but his nerves showed a bit as he got up and moved with her out of the main dining hall into a small corridor that led to other rooms nearby. He could easilly enough guess where her scars came from considering her chosen subject. As she spoke, he was relieved "I thought I was in trouble or something" he said, relief showing in his voice as he took out the tile from the bag. He looked at it curiously, strange sort of tab, but it at least showed him.. "Im in water dorm?" he asked hopefully. Blue meant water right? "Thank you!" he said to her, and would hurry off into the room shown.

Moving into it, the bustle of the other students was the more excited and pleasant feeling he had been hoping to find. Almost immediatly other students were coming up to him and checking his tile against their's, but so far they didn't match. He would glance to the teacher, shocked by the blue hair. It must be a water dorm thing, since Toma had dyed his bird that colour as well, or bought one that colour, he didn't know which. Could you dye birds colours? He knew you could change plant's colours by colouring their water. Or maybe just hair dye, but would that work on feathers? He didn't know.

"Does anyone have room 126? I'm 126" he said, hoping someone nice would have the same number. He had shared a room with his younger brothers before, so sharing a room was fine by him. He just hoped it wasn't with someone like the hard faced man in the dining room who had shouted at him earlier. From what he could gather, the man was in this dorm to.

"I have 126." Chrysth stepped forward, one of the first pulled out of the hall, his wings pulled back, a generous smile on his face, holding up the tile that perfectly matched Kevin's. "I'm Chrysth." His wings shuffled a bit as he adjusted the blue shirt he wore, offering his hand to the other, "Nice to meet you. Looks like we'll be sharing a room. What can you do?" He asked, curious, the other appeared human, he could be a mage, maybe, though he didn't sense magic from the other, maybe a shifter? No he'd be skinnier, those types burned through fat like no other. He couldn't be a lycanthrope either, they did the same thing. He would say vampire, but he wasn't pale enough.

If he was asked the same question, he just smiled, "I'm different." He replied, and moved to stand next to the other as the aquatic looking teacher cleared his throat.

"I'm Professor DiMarcoh, I teach aquatic studies, including a semester on mer-folk and various other deep water creatures, I'm the Master of Water dorms, I assume you've all found your roommates, if not please come to me now." There were a few students that went forward, and he moved them about so they were all paired together before he turned them and marched the group back to the Dining Hall where dinner would be finished and from there led to the water dorms.

Congratulations! Chrysth Donis and Kevin Bishop are now roommates!

<< Kevin Bishop >>

His gaze would turn around to see who it was that had the same room as his, and came face to face with someone else that seemed dressed up. He blinked, but would smile. "Hi, Im Kevin Bishop, good to meet you" he said smiling. "I feel I am a bit out the loop. Its all so new, I didn't know it was fancy dress on the first day back" he said, cheerful "Those wings are wonderful by the way" he said brightly. He was amazed at how lifeliked they look "How do you get them to move? Is it pull cords?" he said, curious as he moved to try and look but would be easilly disuaded.

At the question about what he could do, he looked a bit confused, unsure if he meant to do with the room.. were they expected to keep it clean? Perhaps they were, though he wasn't necissarilly that messy, which was just as well since he was sharing a room. "What I can do? You mean like subjects? Im not sure really.. I was quite good at metalwork?" he said hopefully. "My grades were never that wonderful. I was really surprised when they let me in" he said with a grin.

His gaze turned as the teacher spoke, surprised that even the teacher had gone for the fancy dress in terms of the brilliant blue of his hair. Still, it was water dorm, and from what he heard, he was also the teacher of aquatics, so it was fitting. Now he really took in the rest of the room, he could see others had dressed up, some had pointed ears, others had differently coloured skin and such. It was all rather exotic, and yet, it wasn't universal, and it wasn't as blatant as he thought such a fancy dress thing was likely to be. Some of the things were quite subtle.

He would look back to Chrysth "So, I take it you've been here for a while? What is it like at the university?" he asked as the remaining people got sorted into pairs for their rooms. "The buildings are amazing, and there seems quite a fun atmosphere around. What was that whole picking fruit thing about at the dining room though? Man, this place is going to take some time to get used to."

Chrysth tilted his head, "Fancy dress?" He looked around, no one was dressed up particularly fancy, he didn't seen any tails (coattails that was) or suits, "I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean." He said curiously, though he smiled as his wings were complimented, "Thank you, I..." His brows drew in, "Pull cords?" He asked, bewildered, "I... pull cords?" He turned to look at his wings, "Pull cords, I don't think so." He shook his head, opening his wings, they were huge, much bigger than they originally looked, "They're very real." He said arching them around his roommate. "No pull cords."

Though he tilted his head, "No, I mean magically, what are you, a mage?" He asked folding his wings back again, "It's okay if your grades aren't so good, if you like I can help." He offered, "You know why you were accepted, right? Why you're here?" He moved back against the wall, ignoring the teacher for the most part until they were led back into the Dining Hall, "My god, don't they teach you anything in public schools?" He asked, taking a seat on the bench and pulling the other down with him.

He laughed, "No, this is my first year here, I transfered from a human school after my wings grew in, I can't very well stay at public school with wings, I'd get strange looks." He said, grinning, "But I've heard of the place, they say it's one of the best for advancement in the supernat community." He said, "I would have been here sooner, but I wanted to be with humans for awhile, they're fascinating creatures. Sort of like watching werewolves outside the pack community, but humans, they're somehow just a little more brutal." He said amusedly. "The fruit is kind of a test, I think they use it to measure your aptitude, or it's like a test of personality, or something, I don't know. What'd you pick? I got a peach." He was almost as enthusiastic as Kevin.

He would look perhaps just as confused as the other did, when he was told there was no fancy dress. Ok, now he was sure the other man was teasing him in some way. I mean come ON. No one wandered around in general with fancy dress wings and horns.. or, he glanced around, green skin, bright blue hair, and .. was that scales? No, couldn't be. He just smiled, in that 'game for a laugh' but not quite getting the joke sort of look.

Still, his confusion clearly showed in his eyes at the next question. Mage? "umm.. " ok, he was pretty sure this had to be some sort of roleplaying group, it had to be. Maybe they entered into it as a dorm or something. "Ah.. look I don't really know what's going on ok? This some sort of game? and no, I don't really know why they accepted me here. I came to the open day after seeing a leaflet about it, and they offered me a place."

As the other continued his conversation as if this was some sort of live action roleplay he would become less active coversationally, not really knowing what he was meant to be doing here with this strange conversation. So when the conversation went back to the recient events rather than weird games, he would smile "Oh, I picked a peach as well. Has no one ever asked the teachers about it? It would be interesting to know, though how fruit could give a decient gague of anything is beyond me, since there are so many variables that lead a person to choose a food, from size, shape, previous experiences with it, likes and dislikes, ease of eating and whatever."

He wandered with the other back into the dining room, his gaze now moving over the rest of the students for signs of fancy dress. It wasn't like he could ask Chrysth though.. if that was his real name, because he seemed to be playing whatever game and not willing to give him a streight answer. That was fine though, he didn't mind too much. It was just nice to have a friendly face around. "So what subjects do you like?" he asked, though he was aware that if this was some sort of roleplay, any answers the other gave would likely be changed by whatever character he was playing at the moment.

He frowned deeply, the other really had no idea what he was doing here. It blew his mind an individual could be so... ignorant of his own powers. He supposed the teachers would inform him, or he'd get a nasty shock in some of the classes he'd take. He had been informed that their schedules were planned for them according to their needs and their requirements, so the other would be taken care of, hopefully he'd catch on quick. What manner of game really would he play with the other? He didn't really understand. "Game? N... No..." He shook his head, "Well, congratulations on coming." He said, his wings fluttering slightly and he reached for his horns, rubbing them slightly, noticing that other had drifted off while he spoke about the magical aspect of the school so he switched gears quickly.

"Yeah? Maybe we'll be some classes together because of it." He said, shrugging slightly, "I agree with you, maybe it means different things for different people, who knows, yeah, no one has asked teachers as far as I know." He asked, "Maybe we should ask those that had been here longer?" He asked, arching his brows. He sat down with the other and looked around, seeing some of the other's one with ears, and what looked like scales, and more feathers, and big bat wings from a black skinned youth who laughed loudly, his horns swinging and his teeth flashing. There was another across the way in the shape of a large anthropomorphic wolf who looked a bit awkward, standing enormous above the rest, nearly eight feet tall, his ears moving around and his yellow eyes sweeping back and forth. Chrysth couldn't help but smile.

"Subjects? I like English, writing is a lot of fun. But I'm looking forward to the magical courses they offer, more specifically the demonology courses and some of the practical magics." He said, though he sensed the other wasn't so willing to talk about those, "What about you? What is your favorite subject?" He leaned forward and picked up a bit of ribs, sharp canines pulling the meat off easily.

"Yeah maybe we will get the same classes. I hope they do metal work here, and .. architecture. Id like to do architecture. I just hope I don't have to do science." His gaze moved around the room as the other's did, and yeah, he did notice the other people that were dressed up. How did that guy get so tall? Stilts? Must be. It all looked rather lifelike. Still, it made him uneasy. He ate quickly and would be eager to see his new room, not to mention more of the university on the way, and would head over to the people with the different flags.

The trip to the water dorm was interesting to say the least, and he would marvel at the different styles of building in the university. There was no real connection between the different pieces, though they were linked by gardens that seemed to blend each bit of architecture into the next making it seem to fit perfectly. It really was amazing.
