Shower Room & Baths

Foggy acrylic obscures the large, many-paned window to the far North. The wall of windows allows in light, augmented by the hovering crystals which are activated by both sound and movement, brightening the room when in use. Vents at the top keep the air circulating, and students can see out the windows to the ground beyond, though none may see in from outside.

But before you reach the window, there's a tile wall directly in front of the entry. Arrows point to the left for entrance, circling around clock-wise to exit. In the front is a table and shelves stacked with assorted fluffy white towels and mini bars of soaps, good for one washing. Bins tucked away in various places inside collect the used towels.

The centerpiece is the large, spacious showers, with 50 shower heads on three walls at different heights and adjustable sprays. On the outside of the shower cube are the sinks and mirrors. Stashed along the East and West walls are stalls (toilets) and urinals.

Tucked away in one corner is a trio of hot tubs big enough to fit five men in each, with a low, triangular bench between them stocked with special soaps and other hot-tub-friendly oils. On the opposite side is a sauna large enough for twenty. Hot tubs and sauna have 20 minute timers, and are available between 7-11 pm and 4:30-8 am.

The entire bathroom is tiled with every shade of blue imaginable, and fanciful fish in other colors seem to swim along the walls, floor, and even ceiling, especially when showers, hot tubs, and sauna are all in use, filling the room with mist. The floors are slightly rough against bare feet, protection against slipping on water spilled in from the pools or dripped from otherwise wet bodies.

There is no set order for use of the showers or bathroom, available at any time for anyone at need. In busy hours, the sound of laughter within rivals that of the pool without.

Beginning of 2nd Day

Lux decided that he wanted to start his day with a long soak. The previous night had been horrible, and he had a long day ahead of him, getting his class list and then starting on that life-time's worth of books to read. As Michael York was unlikely to let the books in question out of the library, Lux was resigned to spending the day (and an eternity of similar days) under the watchful eye of the Librarian.

This early on the second day back, the baths were largely empty, so he was able to relax in his favorite spot with his favorite scent in the water. A few minutes, he promised himself, and then he'd work on his to-do list.

He knew at least two classes he'd have to take. Professor DiMarcoh had told him the night before, when he'd woken him to allow his roommate back in, that he was requiring Lux take Interspecies Relations again. It'd been a few year shince he'd taken it, and the professor (rather loudly) asserted that he must have forgotten all the principles. So, that was the first one.

He also knew that he'd have Advanced Spells, Charms & Incantations, because there was always something new to learn, which left spots for two more classes. One had to be some kind of extracurricular thing, which he abhored, and the other he hadn't decided on. Perhaps he would take something with Literature. Might as well put all that reading to good use. Or History of Magic. Or there was that professor who taught something about illusions. Well, he'd figure it out.

He sank a little lower in the water as some of his old classmates entered the baths. Worthless, most of them, in Lux's opinion, but Professor DiMarcoh had read him the riot act about his 'attitude' and Lux didn't want to exacerbate the situation any more at present. The only thing was, Lux had never in his life maintained a 'low profile,' and he wasn't sure how to go about it.

For now, he supposed that if they didn't talk to him, then he wouldn't talk to them, and he'd see if that made the irritating Dorm Master happy.

Deciding that he had wallowed in self-pity long enough, Lux levered himself from the hot tub. He pointedly ignored all the other boys in the room and showered up quickly. He lingered over the sink as he brushed his teeth, eyes sliding to the boys -- young men, really -- who ran razors over their cheeks. Lux had never grown facial whiskers like most of the human's he'd seen, and he found it fascinating, though he disguised the fascination in his overall disdainful analysis of the species.

After spitting he rubbed his jaw, staring in the mirror a moment. He had looked the same for centuries, but a sudden thought popped into his head: When did I get so old?

Shortly, he was out of the bathroom, pulling his usual superior charisma on with his clothes. Food next, then classes, and then, he sighed, to the library.
