Caden Samuel Thompson Empty
PostSubject: Caden Samuel Thompson   Caden Samuel Thompson EmptyFri Apr 17, 2009 11:27 am

((Sorry for the long profile, most of it was written in a phase where I was extremely detail oriented. If you don't want to read his whole life story... I won't blame you, the last two paragraphs relate directly to the University, the rest can be skimmed.))

Name: Caden Samuel Thompson

Age: 19

Year: Freshmeat… ah… I mean, Freshman.

Dorm: Water Dorm; Pertho Wing, Room 223

What: Human with magical abilities and an affinity for the element of wind

Physical: Having taken most completely after his father, Caden and his mother appear to have no relation. In fact, he appears to just be a small version of his father. He is a small young man. His round face carries a very young and innocent quality. His sapphire-blue eyes express his every emotion, while his blond hair frames his face. Upon seeing him, most people would assume him to be perhaps thirteen or fourteen, maybe even younger, especially if he smiles. He secretly enjoys seeing people's faces when they find out his real age. He sometimes buys from the kids menus at restaurants, just because he doesn't want to spend more money than he has to. He makes the best use of his young look as he can.

He is rather short, standing at approximately five feet and five and a half inches. He carries himself with the grace of a dancer. He is not skinny, but slim. He is not pale, but light-skinned. He keeps himself in great shape, thanks to the workout regiment his parents and dance instructor(s) keep him on. He stays healthy, because of the eating habits his mother forced on him. One may call him a perfect-looking child. If only he were still a child. He is what one may call a late-bloomer in his physical development.

Personality: Caden is overall a very quiet young man. He chooses to listen rather than talk, although he does respond if he feels he should. Get him talking about something he loves and you may have a hard time shutting him up.

Upon first meeting Caden, one may see him as shy, naive and perhaps even a little depressed. He is not a fan of meeting new people. What if someone doesn't like him? What if he says something wrong? What if he gains an enemy, rather than a friend? Caden hates conflict and; therefore, opts to stay quiet around people he doesn't know too well. He may answer a few questions at first. A kind smile is a sure-fire way make a good impression on him and relax him.

A mother's boy through and through, Caden is very senstive to threats and insults directed at her and his father. Although, he probably won't say or do anything, his eyes will tell that he is upset. He is very diligent in training his body for the skill that his mother taught him. So it is not uncommon to find him in the gym before and after school, working out and/or practicing on his own. Despite his constant practice, when he is asked to confront someone with his skills in the sport, he suffers from stage fright and can barely keep his ginga steady.

Once a person has managed to make friends with Caden, he is fiercely loyal. He would lay his life down for his closest friends. His friends are the few people that he smiles and laughs a little easier around. Even around close friends, he worries about what they might think of him if he says something wrong or out of place. So during discussions with his friends, he has a habit of staying quiet and listening, laughing where appropriate and answering questions meant for him.

Bio: Samuel Alfred Thompson, a young American soldier and Caden's father, met and married his mother, Iara Lee Dias. However, that isn't enough, is it? Samuel or Sam, as he was often called, was in the American Military. The Army to be more precise, he was stationed in Brazil during the early part of his career and it was during one of his free days that he met her. Iara was a beautiful young woman, with wavy chocolate brown hair and vibrant hazel eyes and a talented Capoerista. It started as a mere infatuation and grew as he spent more and more of his free time with her.

It was a beautiful relationship. The young couple was offered nothing but encouragement. From her side (sisters and cousins), it was to marry and have children, see America and the like. From his (friends and fellow soldiers), it was to have fun, sleep with her and when he has to leave, leave her behind as part of his past. Neither really won out. They did not marry right away, but they remained loyal to each other. The trouble came when Sam finally did propose to Iara. Her father did not wish it. He had not liked him from the beginning. He was especially hard on Sam in the school for Capoeira that Sam had started to attend. Her father happened to teach there.

It took much hardwork from Sam and many nights of appealing to her mother from Iara, but Mr. Dias eventually came around. He begrudingly allowed Iara and Sam to marry, which they did right away. They were given a very brief honeymoon, so they stayed in town and enjoyed a small wedding of family and close friends. Only Iara's whole family came, aunts, uncles, cousins, brother, sisters, grandparents, everyone and their children. This turned it into a rather epic event, mostl consisting of people running around trying to get enough for for everyone. A funny scene when they look back on it, but quite stressful for the couple.

Approximately a year after their marriage, a son was born. They gave him the name Caden, at his mother's request; Samuel, named for his father and grandfather; Thompson, the surname of their family. His parents would not have another child while in Brazil, although it's not for lack of trying.

Caden was a very mild tempered baby, aside from night terrors for the first couple weeks of his life, he was a very easy baby to take care of. He slept for five hours a night, after the night terrors passed. He always had a quiet whimper of a cry, unless his parents ignored him for too long, then (as any child would) he screamed.

Caden spent the first two years of his life in Brazil with his mother. His father was away for much of that time, although he often called and wrote, Caden didn't know his dad too well then. His mother had merely not wanted to travel while pregnant, so she stayed behind with her family. Sort of a sad start to a marriage, isn't it? His mother did her best and he grew up with her large family visiting and playing with him. So even without both parents for those two yers, Caden was anything but lonely.

When he turned two, old enough that he was running around on his own, his mother began his training. Just simple excercises designed to tune his motor movement and build his strength. It was also at this time that they got a letter from his father accompanied by plane tickets for the two of them to join him in America. It took a month to say goodbyes and pack up to go. His three uncles and their wives bought tickets and flew out with them in to help carry the bags and move them in. They found themselves in Huston, Texas. This is where Caden would spend most of his life.

Thirteen years of his life was spent in America, the majority of his life up until the present. His mother made sure he ate well, his father made sure he kept up his excercise and because he wanted to dance, his parents kept him in various studies of dance, but she kept him up in his training in Capoeira. She was determined to keep her family tradition going. Caden was happy to oblige and he reached Azul by the time they left.

He attended public schools for his entire life. The only private lessons that he ever took were extra dance and Capoeira at the school his mother found in town. She managed to get a job there and loved it.

Caden was always the quiet, studious kid in school. He had his homework in on time, because he had to finish before he could go to his dance lessons or before he could go the Capoeira school and practice. His hobbies became his obsessions and they became his life. So aside from the friends he had in his extra-curricular activities, he had little or no social life through-out school.

From his father, who he didn't trust until he was about five and could recognize him as him father. He was raised to be a very obedient child and his father expected nothing lower than B's in school. If he ever got a C, his father cancelled his dance lessons until he brought it up; however, his mother insisted he continue in Capoeira regardless. At about ten, he stopped attending dance lessons, more because his parents were in financial trouble and he didn't want to be too much trouble for them. Again, his mother insisted that he continue in Capoeira.

So, he began taking the study of Capoeira much more seriously and got better and better at it. It was one of the very few things he was sure of himself on, and even so he knew he would never be as good as some students at the same level as him. He simply cannot believe that he is at their level. Public performances have always been disastrous for him. He would tend to hesistate just enough that his moves were easily blocked or countered. It was only with his mother and those he knew he wouldn't be able to touch no matter how hard he tried, that he gave his all, witholding nothing and that was how he earned his level.

When Caden was fifteen years-old, his father was reassigned. He was sent out of the country again. So the Thompson family took an intensive conversational Japanese class and uprooted their life again and moved to Japan.

Caden was almost immediately enrolled in the local highschool. His Japanese was extremely shakey despite the class he took, so he is taking extra classes as an attempt to catch up. His mother had difficulty finding a studio to continue their studies in, but she encouraged Caden to make to use of the school's gym when he has time. She eventually found a job at a local convience store. Both parents refuse to allow Caden to work while he is in school, so he has never had a job. He lives on money earned from work around the house and odd jobs for their neighbors.

Making friends with his schedule for the first year in Japan was next to impossible. He had school, after-school tutoring courses every other day (excluding Sunday), and what free-time he may have had after-school was spent keeping up with his Capoeira workouts. He suvived without much interaction with his fellow students for the first year of his new life in Japan and the second year, he started talking more to others. Having caught up to his class for the most part, he no longer took the after-school courses and his Capoeira lessons were less intensive, because he could do them every day.

It wasn’t until halfway through his third year of high school that any of his abilities showed. It started as short blasts as he moved that could have just as easily been a gust of wind from an open window. The incident that made it clear that there was no coincidence happened in the middle of a match. There were no windows and though Caden hadn’t touched his opponent, the other student went flying into a wall despite having performed what should have been a perfect dodge to Caden’s kick. Thoroughly embarrassed Caden fled. He wasn’t sure what else to do, so he wandered half the night. By the time he got back, he had composed himself and prepared for whatever his parents had to say. They loved him, but he knew it had to be hard to believe that the child you raised for over eighteen years had some ability that no normal human should. Instead of lashing out as he had expected, his father said not a word and avoided all contact. In fact he went so far as to leave the room whenever Caden tried to speak to him. His mother; however, tried to treat him as she always had, but there was always that sense of fear she tried so hard to hide. Coupled with the fact that they both stopped pressuring him to keep up in Capoeira, it was easy enough to make sense of.

He finished high school and only stayed at his parent’s long enough to find a small place of his own and his first job. He spoke to his mother over the phone every once in a while just so she knew he was alive. Their conversations over the phone were much more natural when she didn’t constantly fear him losing control over whatever ability he might have. He didn’t try to look into, he did his best to ignore it. Until he got a letter from Northwood University, a college for those with supposedly supernatural abilities, he set it aside, ignoring it for weeks. But as he noticed little things that happened around that shouldn’t, he decided it wouldn’t hurt to give the school a call. He clearly couldn’t afford any sort of tuition, but when he mentioned that he could work it off, doing odd jobs around the school. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad… maybe it would. Even so, he got the feeling that he didn’t have much of a choice, considering his mother would only really fuss over him when he wasn’t near and his father wouldn’t even speak to him. The few friends he’d had in school were off to universities or careers, pursuing their own dreams. So he packed up his belongings, called his mom and told her that he was leaving for a college that would help him with his powers, and left for the university. Never realizing what sort of people and creatures awaited him there...

Position: As a virgin, he wouldn’t know, but he’s certainly a bottom.[b]
